A preliminary hearing for a probationer accused of gunning down an 18-year-old man in a gang dispute in Oceanside was postponed Thursday until May 5.

Torrey Michael Deangelis, 21, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the Nov. 15 death of Ozzy Maturano.

The deadly gunfire erupted shortly after 6:30 p.m. during a confrontation between two groups of rival gang members alongside a stretch of train tracks off the 300 block of Neptune Way, said Oceanside police Lt. Aaron Doyle.

Passers-by found the the victim lying face down on a bike path suffering from a single gunshot wound. He died at the scene.

Deangelis, an Oceanside resident, is also charged with three counts of attempted murder, with gang and gun allegations. He faces 77 years to life in prison if convicted.
