An investigation was under way today in San Marcos, where the Sheriff’s bomb arson team discovered grenades inside a residence, authorities said.
Deputies were called to the home in the 1200 block of Avenida Fragata shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday, according to San Diego County sheriff’s Lt. Christina Bavencoff. Initially, deputies were investigating a report of domestic violence, she said in a statement.
“Upon further investigation, deputies observed potentially hazardous items,” Bavencoff said, noting the Sheriff’s bomb arson team was summoned and nearby residences were evacuated until the grenades were cleared from the home.
One person was arrested at the scene in connection with the initial domestic violence report, according to the lieutenant, who identified the suspect as 53-year-old Christopher Carlson.
No further details were immediately released.
