A drug deal gone bad sent a 20-year-old marijuana dealer to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg, authorities said Thursday.

Sheriff of San Diego County

The shooting in the 8200 block of Loma View Court in Spring Valley occurred about 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to San Diego County sheriff’s Detective Michael Moore.

The dealer had gone to a location to sell marijuana to a 22-year-old acquaintance and an argument between the two men ensued, Moore said in a statement.

During the argument, the dealer pulled out a handgun and the firearm went off as the two men struggled for control of the weapon, he said, noting the younger man was shot in the leg.

Before deputies arrived, the older man fled the area in a black Honda Accord with the dealer’s cell phone, wallet, marijuana and necklace, Moore said. He remained at large this morning.
