A man was killed and a woman jailed on suspicion of drunken driving early Friday in connection with a multi-vehicle crash that left state Route 125 closed for several hours, police said.
The fatality on north state Route 125 south of state Route 54 in the San Miguel Ranch Road area was reported around 1:45 a.m., according to Chula Vista police and a Heartland fire dispatcher.
The man who died was driving a Jaguar that crashed a high rate of speed, according to the California Highway Patrol, which reported that a woman driving another vehicle involved in the crash was arrested on suspicion of DUI. At least two other vehicles were involved in the crash, the CHP reported on its website.
The California Highway Patrol was investigating how each of the four vehicles was involved.
Chula Vista police and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department assisted the CHP with diverting traffic off the northbound side of state Route 125 at H Street. The closure lasted until around 7:30 a.m.
