A wildfire that burned 20 acres of brushy terrain in Jamul this weekend was 100% contained, authorities said.
Cal Fire reported at 5:20 p.m. Saturday that “firefighters have achieved 100% containment. All roads are open, but please use caution within Skyline Truck Trail.”
Crews remained on the scene Saturday night and Sunday “to monitor and help clean up around the area.”
The Beaver Fire erupted at about 3 p.m. Friday off the 15300 block of Skyline Truck Trail, northwest of Barrett Lake, in a rural area of eastern San Diego County, according to Cal Fire.
As the flames moved toward back-country homes, authorities issued an evacuation order for households nearest to the burn zone and advised residents living somewhat farther off to prepare to clear out of their neighborhoods on short notice.
Those orders were lifted by 7:20 p.m. Friday due to improved conditions, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
Crews halted the spread of the flames at 20.4 acres as of 5:45 p.m. Friday, Cal Fire reported, and no injuries or damaged structures were reported.
