
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Friday for the third time in four days, decreasing three-tenths of a cent to $4.549.
The average price is 1 cent less than one week ago, 4.1 cents lower than one month ago, and 12.9 cents below what it was one year ago, according to figures from the American Automobile Association and the Oil Price Information Service.
The average price has dropped 1.3 cents over the past four days, decreasing a half-cent on both Tuesday and Wednesday and remaining unchanged on Thursday. It has dropped $1.885 since rising to a record $6.434 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“As the summer road trip season winds down, local drivers are continuing to pay the lowest gas prices since 2021,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement issued Thursday.
The national average price dropped seven-tenths of a cent to $3.153, after three consecutive increases totaling 2.2 cents, including a half-cent on Thursday. It is three-tenths of a cent less than one week ago and 28.8 cents lower than one year ago, but three-tenths of a cent more than one month ago.
The national average price has dropped $1.863 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
