Spill the Beans has officially opened its fifth location in Ocean Beach, marking the debut of its first-ever drive-thru.
Located at the corner of Newport Avenue and Sunset Cliffs Boulevard, the new spot is ready to welcome coffee and bagel fans.
Guests can order via the drive-thru or at the walk-up window. Through June 30, hours will be 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Beginning July 1, the location will expand from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The 900-square-foot shop includes outdoor seating for about 50 guests.
Drive-thru customers are asked to check in with a team member after entering on Newport Avenue, before pulling forward. Orders will be brought directly to vehicles, and guests can enjoy music while they wait. Drivers should use caution when exiting the drive-thru, as cross-traffic may be present.
Spill the Beans’ signature bagels, created by Chef Karina Orozco for the brand’s original Gaslamp opening in 2017, are made with five ingredients and boiled in agave syrup, the bagels are known for their larger size and soft texture. Flavors include Sundried Tomato & Cheese and Bacon & White Cheddar, and they can be paired with a selection of compound butters and handmade cream cheeses such as White Truffle & Parmesan, Bananas Foster, Caramelized Shallot & Chive, and Vegan Plain. Monthly rotating flavors keep the offerings fresh.
Menu highlights include bagel sandwiches like the San Dieggo — made with two over-medium fried eggs, peppered bacon, American and pepper jack cheeses, and cayenne aioli—as well as Chia Berry Bowls, avocado toast, and lunch items like the B.B.L.(t), featuring peppered bacon, tomato, lettuce, and garlic aioli.
The drink menu includes cold brew, specialty coffee drinks, teas, juices, and options like matcha and chaga. Milk alternatives include oat, almond, coconut, and macadamia.
Spill the Beans Ocean Beach is located at 4805 Newport Avenue. The walk-up window is accessible from Sunset Cliffs Boulevard, and drive-thru entry is on Newport Avenue.
