The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County increased 1.5 cents Saturday to $4.509.

The average price is 2.2 cents more than one week ago, but six-tenths of a cent less than one month ago and 27.3 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.926 since rising to a record $6.435 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“The California state gas price average for all of 2024 was $4.76 a gallon, which is the third highest annual average price ever behind the 2022 average price of $5.48 and the 2023 average of $4.95,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.

“The Los Angeles annual average price for 2024 was $4.75 for regular unleaded, and in San Diego it was $4.80.”

The national average price decreased three-tenths of a cent to $3.064. It is 3.8 cents more than one week ago and 3.1 cents more than one month ago, but 2.6 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.952 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
