Canada-based Porter Airlines has found a new home at San Diego International Airport.
The budget airlines’ first nonstop flight to Toronto departed SAN this week, making it the eighteenth airline to offer service from the airport.
Porter will be offering four weekly flights to Toronto Pearson Airport year-round — Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays — meaning the airline is confident that travel to San Diego will not be seasonal.
“We welcome Porter Airlines to San Diego International Airport,” said Kimberly Becker, president and chief executive officer of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority.
“We look forward to providing San Diegans more nonstop service to this international, cosmopolitan city known for business, finance, arts, sports, and culture, while giving Torontonians expanded service to our key business sectors and fabulous beaches.”
The second Southern California flight is a seasonal service to Palm Springs, with three weekly flights to and from Toronto.
All nonstop flights out of San Diego and Palm Springs will use the new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which features seats in a two-by-two seating configuration per row — meaning there is no middle seat. It is equipped with free wi-fi for all passengers.
