This fall, Mission Hills will welcome Paradis, a new addition to the local dining scene.

Paradis will be a morning café and afternoon pintxo bar, offering a unique blend of European charm and culinary experience.

Located at street level in the Sasan building, Paradis will be a spot for early risers and afternoon socializers alike. The café will feature a selection of specialty espresso drinks, mulled-to-order matcha, and fresh pastries baked by renowned Chef Aly Lyng (George’s at the Cove).

In the afternoons, Paradis will transition into a lively pintxo bar, serving crafted cocktails and a variety of elevated small plates from Chef Jon Hawkins (Realm of the 52 Remedies/Common Theory).

Paradis marks the debut San Diego venture for restaurateur Jacquee Renna Downing, known for her eateries in Palm Desert, including La Quinta Cliffhouse and Pacifica Seafood. Downing’s vision for Paradis is to create a welcoming space that feels like a second home, where patrons can enjoy meals throughout the day.

The daytime menu will feature fresh, locally sourced dishes, including housemade baked goods and desserts, as well as inspired breakfast and sandwich options.

In the afternoon, Paradis will showcase its modern pintxo bar, offering an array of small bites and finger foods. Chef Hawkins will present a variety of unique and flavorful small plates, including housemade tinned local fish, bites on fuille de brick, skewered meats, and inventive vegetarian and vegan options. Guests can enjoy these bite-sized delicacies at the bar or have them prepared to order.

Designed by San Diego-based Design Perspectives, Paradis will resemble a vintage European café. The interior will offer a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance, with a vibrant open-air courtyard featuring tables for dining and lounge seating for relaxing.
