SD Beer Weekend, the prelude to San Diego Beer Week in the fall, begins Friday at breweries throughout the region.

San Diego Brewers Guild is hosting the third annual celebration through Sunday, this year focusing on the community of craft and the individuals, breweries, beer bars, retailers and neighborhoods that make up the scene.

Events include Mission Brewing‘s 17th anniversary party – with limited-edition glassware, new brews, barrel releases, discounts and live music – and the Sunday Bluegrass Jam at Duck Foot Brewing Co.

Visit the Brewers Guild’s calendar for more.

The guild is also hosting a social media contest each day of the weekend. To enter, snap a photo while enjoying a favorite San Diego craft beer, share it on Instagram using the hashtag #drinksdbeer and tag @sdbrewers.

Prizes include packs from Dogleg Brewing Co. on Friday, Puesto on Saturday and Barley & Sword Brewing Company on Sunday.

The brewers guild promotes awareness and seeks to increase the visibility of fresh locally brewed beer through education and participation in community events. The region is home to more than 150 independent craft beer manufacturers.

San Diego Beer Week is set to begin Nov. 1.
