Karl Strauss will host Karl’s House Party, the first of three such events, to mark the celebration of the brewery’s 35th anniversary.

The first evening, at Karl Strauss’ Sorrento Mesa brewpub on Wednesday, is already sold out. It includes four draft beers, among them two exclusive barrel-aged brews that will never be tasted again, all-you-can-eat bites, and a swag bag with the 35th Anniversary Barrel Aged Weizenbock, a limited-edition pint glass, and more.

Karl Strauss Executive Chef Gunther Emathinger, who has been with the brewery for 25 years, has crafted a menu that features pretzel bites, spicy ahi poke, beer sausage skewers, sirloin strips, beer-brined pork chops, drunken shrimp, award-winning “MAC Oon Tap,” “Beeramisu” and more.

91X FM Radio, a longtime partner of Karl Strauss, will broadcast live from the event and provide the music.

The program includes story telling from Brewmaster Paul Segura and co-founder and CEO Chris Cramer. It was with the help of Cramer’s cousin, Master Brewer Karl M. Strauss, that on Feb. 2, 1989, Karl Strauss Brewing Company first opened its doors on Columbia Street in downtown San Diego.

“It’s an extraordinary time for Karl Strauss beer and its fans old and new,” said Chief Experience Officer Jen Briggs. “As we embark on the next 35 years, it’s important for us to celebrate the history of Karl as San Diego’s OG craft brewery while looking ahead at the ways we can continue making connections through craft in Southern California and beyond.”

The brewery has more Karl’s House Parties planned – on April 18 at its Anaheim brewpub, with tickets available for $89; and Sept. 19 at Karl Strauss’ downtown San Diego location.

Karl Strauss has been honored as one of the region’s best craft breweries while also winning 128 medals in various brewing competitions over the last 15 years.
