Haven’t opted in to Amazon Prime? One perk previously ope only to members is now available to everyone – in select markets anyway, including the city of San Diego.
Amazon Fresh now can be enjoyed by non-Prime members for a delivery fee in the San Diego-area, one of three California markets, along with San Francisco and Sacramento, that are part of the rollout.
The consumer selection includes national brands, local favorites and produce, meat, and seafood, as well as a range of private label offerings, including Aplenty, Fresh and 365 by Whole Foods Market.
Delivery fees for customers who are not Prime members are $7.95 for orders over $100, $10.95 for deliveries $50-$100, $13.95 for deliveries under $50. Pick-up orders are free from select metro areas.
Non-Prime members will be party to the same two-hour delivery windows for orders as other Amazon customers, while those in some areas will be able to select a longer, six-hour delivery window for reduced fees.
Rounding out the 12 metro areas where non-Prime members may use Amazon Fresh are Austin, Texas, Boston, Charlotte, N.C., Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Nashville, Tenn., Phoenix, Portland, Ore. and Richmond, Va.
The company said in a Wednesday statement that the goal is to build what officials called a best-in-class grocery shopping experience, in-store or online, where Amazon is the first choice for selection, value and convenience.
Officials also said the company remains committed to investing in this space and is working to identify the right grocery offering to scale for customers.
