Rubio’s Coastal Grill has partnered with Foodja.com, a workplace restaurant delivery and catering platform operating in California, Arizona and Texas.
Rubio’s, based in Carlsbad, operates 154 restaurants throughout the U.S. The collaboration with Foodja Cafe will enable Rubio’s to provide thousands of fresh individual meals to employees throughout Foodja’s markets.
The delivery firm, based in Costa Mesa, plans to expand to additional U.S. markets. Client companies include Sony, Activision Blizzard, YouTube and Amazon.
“Our Foodja Cafe service is the hottest workplace meal delivery offering on the market right now, so it only makes sense to partner with a top fast-casual restaurant like Rubio’s,” said Steve Sprinkle, Foodja’s founder and CEO.
The Foodja service gives Rubio’s access to different workplaces, while allowing companies to provide an additional benefit for in-office employees.
“Rubio’s Coastal Grill has always been a popular selection among our catering customers,” Sprinkle said. “Now that they are available through Foodja Cafe, their fresh and healthy meals can be customized on an individual basis to address the needs of the modern workplace.”
The platform’s algorithm predicts what employees would like to eat based on what they’ve ordered in the past. Built with restaurants in mind, the service also offers the ability for orders to be scheduled up to two weeks in advance, an advantage for restaurants contending with supply chain and labor challenges.
“We’re committed to sustainability, and are thrilled to partner with Foodja to offer Rubio’s favorite dishes to employees at participating companies directly, without the need to drive to grab lunch,” said Rubio’s Co-Founder, Ralph Rubio.
Foodja also argues that it supports local restaurants by introducing their food to new customers. Rather than converting the restaurant’s existing customers to delivery customers, as is typical of other delivery platforms, participating restaurants potentially are exposed to new customers, who Foodja encourages to visit in-store with bounce back offers.
