Qualcomm announced Tuesday a global patent-licensing agreement with South Korea’s LG Electronics, one of the world’s largest technology companies.

Under the terms of the five-year pact, LG can develop, manufacture and sell 3G, 4G and 5G devices using Qualcomm’s wireless technology.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but Qualcomm said it will earn royalties from LG and that the agreement is consistent with the San Diego company’s established global licensing terms.

“Qualcomm is pleased to enter into a new global patent-license agreement with LG,” said John Han, senior vice president and general manager of Qualcomm Technology Licensing. “This agreement builds on our long-standing technology relationship and reaffirms the value of Qualcomm’s world-class patent portfolio.”

The agreement comes as U.S. and foreign regulators continue to scrutinize Qualcomm’s licensing practices on both antitrust and fair-trade grounds
