Mana de San Diego announced Thursday that Director of Development and Member Services Rosa Maria Hernandez is one of 12 finalists for a $25,000 grant from the Coors Light Lideres of the Year competition.

The 14th annual competition honors 12 Hispanic people who make a difference in their communities through public service and serve a role-models for other Hispanic people. The winner of the competition receives $25,000 to fund a project in their community.

“I am honored to represent the San Diego community in the 2019 Coors Light Lideres of the Year competition,” Hernandez said. “If I win, I plan to dedicate all grant funds to implementing a leadership project with MANA de San Diego to empower young Latinas in the region to build on their potential, pursue higher education and become engaged community members.”

Residents can vote for Hernandez throughout the month of August at CoorsLightLideres.com. The competition’s winner will be announced during Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.

“For more than a decade, the Lideres program has recognized the unique accomplishments of over 170 leaders, and I am excited about awarding the 2019 Lider of the Year with a $25,000 grant that will help the Latino community climb on even higher,” said Alberto Senior, who leads MillerCoors’ Latino community outreach efforts.
