Gas pump. Photo credit: Alexander NguyeThe average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Saturday for the 12th consecutive day, decreasing eight-tenths of a cent to $4.022.
The average price has dropped 7.8 cents over the past 12 days, including seven-tenths of a cent on Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price information Service. The streak of decreases follows three consecutive increases that had pushed the average price to its highest amount since July 27, 2015.
The average price is 4.6 cents less than one week ago and 3.2 cents lower than one month ago, but 28.7 cents more than one year ago.
“Local refineries have restarted production, reducing the need for expensive imports and pushing prices downward in time for an all-time record number of 3.35 million Southern Californians getting ready to travel over the Memorial Day holiday next weekend,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
