The San Diego Foundation announced it has retained Blair Search Partners to begin a nationwide search for a new president and CEO.

The San Diego-based search firm, which specializes in serving nonprofit organizations, will develop a position description and begin the national search.

“Blair Search Partners is a highly regarded firm with a well-established nonprofit practice,” said Dr. Constance Carroll, chair of the foundation’s board and search committee, and chancellor of the San Diego Community College District.

“Our committee was very impressed with the firm’s responsive and comprehensive search process, as well as its deep San Diego roots and relevant experience conducting searches for major nonprofits and corporations,” Carroll said.

The new CEO will succeed Kathlyn Mead, who left the foundation in June.

Founded in 1975, the foundation and its donors have granted more than $1.1 billion to organizations and causes in the San Diego region.
