91X has announced the artist line-up for its annual holiday concert called “Wrex The Halls.” The concert will be held on Friday, Dec. 14, at Valley View Casino Center. Scheduled performers include Death Cab for Cutie, Third Eye Blind, Billie Eilish, Lord Huron and Barns Courtney.

“For this year’s Wrex The Halls, we worked to curate a diverse line-up that represents the true musical breadth of 91X,” said Garett Michaels, 91X program director. “Death Cab For Cutie has a great new album and a catalog of hits spanning over a decade, Third Eye Blind will be performing all of the songs we know and love from their seminal debut album, Billie Eilish is the new artist breakthrough story of the year, Lord Huron are incredible live performers with a strong new album and a smash single, and Barns Courtney is one England’s most promising new singer-songwriters.”

Ticket sales began last week at www.91x.com and www.axs.com.

Starting in 1993, 91X’s holiday concerts have been known by several names, including “Acoustic X-mas,” which became “Caustic X-mas” in 1994. Other names over the years have included “Frosty the Show, Man” and “Nightmare Before X-Mas” before “Wrex The Halls” began in 2008.

91X is owned by Local Media San Diego LLC, a San Diego-based broadcasting company backed by private equity firm, Thoma Bravo LLC. The company also operates radio stations Z-90 and Magic 92.5.

J Public Relations to Represent Marriott’s Moxy San Diego

The San Diego office of J Public Relations said it has been named the agency of record for Marriott International’s Moxy San Diego Downtown Gaslamp Quarter at 831 Sixth Avenue.

When the 128-room boutique hotel opens in November, it will be Marriott’s first Moxy Hotel property in the state. The hotel is described as experimental, millennial-minded and funky with a hotel check-in on wheels, a lobby tricycle for guests to receive their digital room key and welcome nitro cocktails. Also in the lobby will be shuffle board, arcade games as well as a giant Jenga and Twister display.

Specializing in travel and hospitality clients, J Public Relations, with offices in California and New York, was founded in 2005.

Kantana Media Adds Five New Employees

Kantana Media, a San Diego digital media agency, has announced five new employees. They include: Derek Hanley, business development manager; Brian Van Voorst, campaign analyst; Connor Gold, paid social specialist; Jasmina Jahic, senior marketing manager; and Michael Sims, junior data specialist.

Hanley, previously a sales director with LeadChat, will focus on new business acquisition. Van Voorst, originally from the Netherlands, has a background in international and online marketing. Gold, previously with Chief Media in New York, has experience with Facebook marketing; and Jahic has experience in the high-tech and biotech industries. Sims has a master’s degree in applied statistics from Cal State Long Beach.

A spokesperson said Kantana’s growth from 12 to 28 employees over the past year has earned recognition from Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing private companies in America.

Nuffer, Smith, Tucker Hires Two New Team Members

Nuffer, Smith, Tucker, a San Diego public relations firm, has announced two new hires, including Jesse Mellon as creative manager and Sarah Bowles as account executive.

Mellon, with 18 years of experience in graphic design, has worked with several biotech, entertainment and data companies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

Bowles has four years of experience in media relations, social media strategy, and management and event coordination. She has a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in political science from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She will work on the Citrus Pest and Disease Prevention Program, Shift San Diego and other clients.

“Our team is our greatest asset as we strive toward our vision to ‘redefine PR’,” said Teresa Siles, the firm’s managing director and senior vice president. “Sarah and Jesse each bring unique creative and strategic skills that will help us continue to work toward our vision and provide value to our clients.”
