Promontory in Civita has been named “Community of the Year” by the Building Industry Association of San Diego — the fifth development in the Mission Valley urban village to be so honored.

Since opening for sales in 2012, Civita neighborhoods have clinched the top honor for attached housing in five out of seven years. “Community of the Year” winners represent the best in architecture, landscaping, interior design and marketing in San Diego County.

In addition to Promontory, which was designed by Woodley Architectural Group for The New Home Company, other Civita winners include Origen by Shea Homes (2012), Circa 37 by Sudberry Properties (2013), Lucent by Shea Homes (2015), and West Park by Sudberry Properties (2016).

In all, Sudberry Properties, the master developer of Civita, and guest builders have amassed 27 awards for architectural design, landscaping, sales office design, interior design and marketing from the BIA.

“Civita’s unprecedented volume of major architectural honors reflects our commitment to design excellence,” said Marco Sessa, senior vice president of Sudberry Properties.

“From the inception of the Civita plan, we have worked with our design team and collaborated with our guest builders to incorporate cutting-edge architecture and the latest sustainability practices,” he said. “We’re convinced our investment in good design will pay off for residents over the life of this community.”

Civita is a sustainable, transit-oriented urban village located on a former 70-year-old sand and gravel quarry. Plans for the 230-acre property call for up to 4,780 homes and apartments in numerous configurations, approximately 480,000 square feet for a lifestyle retail center and 420,000 square feet for an office campus.
