San Diego’s Metropolitan Transit System announced Wednesday it received a perfect score on the Federal Transit Administration‘s triennial review for the fourth consecutive time.

Congress mandated the FTA’s triennial review in 1982 as a method of “examining grantee performance and adherence to current FTA requirements and policies.” The review process also determines how well recipients of funding from the Urbanized Area Formula Program are meeting requirements.

Over the last 12 years, the FTA has found no faults in MTS’ management of federal funding the system has received.

“The Triennial Review is a demanding process that looks into every aspect of the MTS operation,” said MTS CEO Paul Jablonski. “Continuing a track record of perfect scores is a testament to the effort our staff puts into the everyday operations and to the attention to detail.”

Categories the FTA reviews include ADA compliance, Title VI compliance and safety and security standards.

In fiscal year 2017, MTS served nearly 86 million riders in San Diego County.
