NASSCO said it needs welders, shipfitters and other employees as it ramps up production of specialized Navy vessels and civilian cargo ships.
The General Dynamics subsidiary will be interviewing prospective employees from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday at San Diego City College’s Arts and Humanities Building, located at 16th and C Streets downtown.
Employees who are new to shipbuilding will be able to take advantage of a company-paid, eight-week training program.
Company officials advised job seekers to apply in advance at jobs.nassco.com.
NASSCO is the only major shipyard on the West Coast designing, constructing and repairing ships for the Navy and commercial customers. In the past decade, NASSCO has delivered more than 30 ocean-going ships.
