Aspriring adventure seekers will get the chance to connect with the area’s inspirational nature lovers as a Normal Heights outdoor and travel retailer launches its “ROVE Abouts” series beginning Feb. 21.
The ROVE store located at 3275 Adams Ave. will kick off the monthly speaker series with “Bike Touring 101” led by local entrepreneur Jamie Hampton.
Hampton, who leads Mixte Communications by day, is a bicycle commuter and someone whose staff is often seen on two wheels. For her session, she will share stories and photos from her many self-supported bicycle trips including Portland to San Diego along Highway 101, through Turkey, in Spain and Morocco, and along the Rhine River from Switzerland to The Netherlands, according to a ROVE statement.
“We’re cultivating a sense of community at our brick-and-mortar store to encourage our neighbors to explore San Diego, and beyond, in new ways,” said Blake Robertson, who owns ROVE with his wife Jenna. “As place to find inspiration beyond social media, ROVE Abouts will bring people together in a physical space to share stories and encourage new adventures every month.”
The Feb. 21 ROVE Abouts presentation will be followed up March 7 with a seminar on hiking the Pacific Coast Trail. From there, the series will settle into a monthly evening routine at ROVE on the first Wednesday of every month, according to Robertson.
Tickets are not required for ROVE Abouts.
