A San Diego developer is moving ahead with plans for 218 entry-level townhomes in Spring Valley on a site once intended for a golf course.

The Douglas Wilson Cos.‘ plans for the 52-acre property include homes in three styles priced from the low $400,000s amid 28 acres of open space.

The Sweetwater Vistas project at Jamacha and Sweetwater Springs boulevards near the Sweetwater Reservoir was approved by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors last week.

“For the last three years, we’ve worked with the community group and government agencies to re-envision the highest and best use for this property, creating a plan for desperately needed, moderately priced housing,” said Douglas P. Wilson, chairman and CEO of the development company.

“We believe this is one of the largest projects of its kind in San Diego County, where multi-family, for-sale homes will be available in the low $400,000s,” he added.

The planned open space will preserve Hansen’s Creek and its sensitive plant and animal populations.
