Two developments with 210 apartments for low-income seniors and families opened Tuesday in the Millenia master-planned community of Chula Vista.

The development by the Chula Vista Housing Authority and Chelsea Investment Corporation includes 123 one- and two-bedroom units for seniors in the Volta neighborhood and 87 units from one to three bedrooms for families in the Duetta area.

“It was our honor to work with Meridian Development, the creator of Millenia, to produce such a
beautiful complex of energy efficient, fully loaded apartments with customized services and
programming for the residents,” said Jim Schmid, Chelsea’s founder and CEO.

Apartments for seniors at Volta range from 557 to 764 square feet and rent for $759 to $1,093. The units for families range from 550 to 1,000 square feet and rent for $759 to $1,263

“I am proud our city is collaborating with Meridian Development and Chelsea Investment Corporation
to create affordable rental housing for our residents,” said Chula Vista Mayor Mary Casillas. “These
beautiful apartments offer amenities and services that help build community and strengthen
families.”

Residents of both neighborhoods  have access to both surface parking and a parking structure. Amenities for families at Duetta include a playground, courtyard with picnic area and barbecue, as well as a
community clubhouse with free access to computers and printers.
