The landmark Hotel del Coronado will now be managed by the global Hilton chain.

The Hilton presence will reportedly be understated, with no large signs on the sprawling, Victorian-era wooden edifice.

Hilton plans to include the famous hotel in its Curio Collection luxury brand and use its global marketing leverage and membership program to bring more guests to the beachside resort.

The hotel in Coronado opened in 1888 and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977. It has  been featured in numerous books and movies, notably “Some Like It Hot starring Marilyn Monroe,

Hilton replaces KSL Resorts as manager. The property is owned by the Blackstone Group.
