San Diego International Airport was ranked the third best airport in the United States Thursday by a popular travel website.

Phoenix’ Sky Harbor came in first, followed by Portland International Airport and then San Diego. Ranked last was New York’s LaGuardia Airpot.

The ranking was by, a website with 3.4 million monthly visitors.

The study examined the 30 busiest airports and used data from the Federal Aviation Administration, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, J.D. Power, Google Maps, and the airports’ official websites. Categories included flight delays, cancellations, average security wait times, distance from the city center, public transit options, bars/restaurants, lounges, WiFi costs and parking rates.

The study placed top importance on how well each airport serves its primary purpose – getting passengers where they’re going on time.

“At No. 3, San Diego is a serious contender that could compete for the top spot in the future — but it will have to do something about its middling flight cancellation rate,” according to the report.
