The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County was at its lowest amount on Independence Day since 2005 Monday, dropping four-tenths of a cent to $2.941.

The average price is eight-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 11.7 cents higher than one month ago but 56.3 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price rose to its highest amount since Jan. 15 on Saturday, then dropped one-tenth of a cent on Sunday.
