San Diego’s International Association of Business Communicators chapter has selected AMN Healthcare‘s Anna Davison for its 2016 Communicator of the Year award.
Davison, director of corporate communications at AMN, will be honored at a ceremony starting at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, at Hash House a Go Go, 3628 5th Ave. in Hillcrest.
At AMN, Davison oversees internal and external strategic communications initiatives. Prior to joining AMN, she served as director of corporate communications at FTD Companies, previously Provide Commerce, and in a variety of roles at Science Applications International Corp., including director of marketing and communications, deputy director of electronic communications and operations manager.
“I feel so honored to be recognized by my colleagues in this organization,” said Davison. “IABC is not only a great resource for networking and professional development, it is a group of people who are all truly committed to the shared passion of improving organizational effectiveness through strategic communication.”
Recipients of the IABC award are nominated by their peers. Judging is based on leadership, management and communication skills, strategy development and communicating to diverse audiences.

MeadsDurket Hires Two, Promotes One
MeadsDurket, a San Diego branding, advertising and digital agency, has hired Krystal Profitt as a digital marketing strategist and Hannah Meldon as an advertising account executive. In addition, Kimberly Cunningham, who has been with the agency since 2012, has been promoted from account executive to advertising account supervisor.
Profitt, who was previously with i.d.e.a., will oversee website content, digital media partners and creative, SEM, data analysis and lead generation. Meldon, previously with Vitro and EFM in San Diego, will support the San Diego Honda Dealers and Del Mar Thoroughbred Club accounts. Cunningham supports the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and SDG&E accounts.
SAFE Planning Annual Fundraiser for Marketers in Drisis
SAFE, the San Diego Advertising Fund for Emergencies (SAFE), a volunteer, nonprofit organization providing confidential financial assistance to local advertising and marketing professionals and their families facing a life crisis emergency, will host its 15th annual fundraising party from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, at the San Diego Hilton Resort on Mission Bay.
The party, SAFE’s major fundraiser of the year, will feature food, networking, entertainment, a raffle and silent auction to benefit grant recipients. Theme of the party is “Party in Paradise.” Cost to attend is $50 per person. For tickets and more information, visit the organization’s website. SAFE is supported by volunteers in the advertising, communications and marketing industries. (W)right On Communications Adds Staff, CEO Venture Board
(W)right On Communications, a Solana Beach public relations firm, has announced that CEO Grant Wright has been elected to the San Diego Venture Group’s board of directors. Wright is expected to assist the venture group with its communications efforts.
Previously, Wright served as board chair of the Southern California Aviation Association for five years. Over his nine years on the board, the Carlsbad-based trade group grew from 600 to 6,000 members.
In addition, the PR agency recently added three new team members, including Katherine Beaulieu as a communications strategist and Kara DeMent and Natalie Meza as communications coordinators. Beaulieu was previously with Day Communications in Vancouver, British Columbia. DeMent was previously with TCO, a PR firm with clients such as NBA teams Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Clippers. Meza was previous with XETV-TV/CW6 San Diego.
Wright was named CEO of (W)right On in 2004. The firm has clients in the hospitality, healthcare, energy, technology, real estate development, manufacturing, professional services and government industries.
