Barons Market, a locally owned all-natural grocery chain, announced Friday that its seventh location will be in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego.

The grocery will open later this year at 3231 East University Avenue, the site of a former Fresh & Easy. It will be the chain’s fourth San Diego location after Point Loma, Rancho Bernardo and Alpine.

“Barons Market and North Park are a match made in food heaven,” said Rachel Shemirani, vice president of marketing. “We stock our shelves with good food, craft beer and locally grown produce — all things that the North Park community values.

“As a family-owned business founded in San Diego, this location feels like coming home,” she added.

The new store will have an olive oil and vinegar bar, produce from local farms, and over 400 micro brews.

Barons said it plans to hire approximately 30 employees for the new store.
