Three San Diego shipyards will divide a $1.32 billion Navy contract to repair combat and amphibious ships home-ported in San Diego.
The contract is divided among General Dynamics NASSCO, BAE Systems and Continental Maritime, with each competing for ships as repairs are necessary.
“We look forward to the opportunity to work with the U.S. Navy in support of the modernization and repair efforts for the combatant and amphibious ships home-ported in the Port of San Diego,” said Dave Carver, vice president and general manager for NASSCO’s repair division.
NASSCO is also building new ships for the Navy at its shipyard in Barrio Logan, the largest yard on the West Coast.
