Seattle-based HomeStreet Bank opened its first retail bank branch in San Diego on Monday and plans to open a second at the end of the month.

The Mission Gorge branch at 6515 Mission Gorge Road opened Monday and a Kearny Mesa branch is scheduled to open March 31 at 9363 Clairemont Mesa Blvd.

“Expanding our banking services in San Diego is exciting for the company, and we are proud to introduce our retail banking services to consumers and businesses in the market,” said HomeStreet Bank CEO and President Mark Mason.

The community bank currently has eight bank branches in the greater Los Angeles area and has been offering mortgage loans and commercial loans in San Diego for several years.

“This is a milestone moment for us as we grow and expand to 117 retail bank branches and home loan centers throughout nine western states,” Mason said.

HomeStreet plans to open additional retail bank branches and home loan centers this year in Southern California and throughout its network.
