A Riverside County woman who embezzled nearly $600,000 from The Crossings golf course in Carlsbad over a seven-year period pleaded guilty Tuesday to multiple felony charges and was immediately sentenced to four years in prison.

Dawn Snow, 52, was the controller for KemperSports, the company that handled all golf course operations for the Crossings since the upscale city-owned course opened in 2007. She left her job in August 2014 and was arrested in June.

Snow pleaded guilty to embezzlement, grand theft and identity theft. Prosecutors said the Murrieta resident spent the stolen money on travel, cars and a lavish lifestyle.

KemperSports managers notified Carlsbad officials last year about the apparent misuse of a credit card by Snow. The company conducted an internal investigation and reported its findings, including the theft of public funds, to the Carlsbad Police Department.

The city initiated its own audit of finances at The Crossings dating back to 2007 and presented its findings to the District Attorney’s Office.
