The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce recognized four of San Diego’s innovative small businesses at its annual awards ceremony Wednesday in downtown San Diego.

Jerry Sanders, president and CEO of the chamber and a former San Diego mayor, said small businesses make up the majority of the chamber’s 2,500 members are the foundation of the local business community.

“We really appreciate what each of you do in terms of job creation for San Diego,” he said at the ceremony at the Quartyard in the East Village.

The four 2015 winners are:

  • Outstanding Emerging Business — Confirm Biosciences, a maker of alcohol and drug test kits
  • Most Innovative Product or Service – BitCot, a creator of websites and mobile apps
  • Excellence in Customer Service — James Gang Company, a full-service printing company in Ocean Beach
  • Most Innovative Marketing Campaign or Concept — Challenged Athletes Foundation, a nonprofit that helps people with physical disabilities pursue an active lifestyle

“These are the companies that have the potential to be the next big thing,” said Rick Bregman, San Diego market president for Bank of America, which sponsored the event.
