Shea Homes announced the opening on Saturday of Serra, a new gated community with 73 starter homes in Vista.

The development includes Spanish, Cottage and Prairie styling in floor plans that range from 1,757 to 2,022 square feet. The homes offer three or four bedrooms, two-and-a-half to three-and-a-half baths and a two-car garage. Prices are expected to range from $430,000 to $490,000.

“This community of new homes in Vista is offering contemporary architecture and design in a gated neighborhood, convenient to city services and schools,” said Vanessa Linn, vice president of sales and marketing for Shea Homes San Diego. “We’re easy to find because we’re next door to one of Vista’s most popular restaurants, Ciao Ristorante.”

Serra was designed by Starck Architecture + Planning to meet the needs of first-time homebuyers or those ready to make their first move-up purchase. Features include kitchen islands, granite and cultured marble countertops, chrome hardware, stainless steel appliances, tankless water heaters and high-efficiency gas heating and air conditioning.

The homes also include front yard landscaping and access to a community swimming pool.

Shea Homes said it plans to open eight new developments in San Diego next year, with locations ranging from Imperial Beach to Escondido. The company is one of the largest homebuilders nationwide.
