A grand opening celebration is scheduled Thursday for a new Visitor Information Center along San Diego’s downtown waterfront.

The facility, operated by Old Town Trolley Tours, opened for business earlier this week. It replaced a center that operated for 30 years, first in Horton Plaza and on the Embarcadero since 2003.

Tourists can stop by the new facility, located close to the Broadway Pier, to get information and purchase tickets to local attractions and shows.

It will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between November and May, and stay open until 5 p.m. during the summer and early fall.

A ribbon-cutting is set for 11 a.m. at the facility, with officials from the city, Port of San Diego and Old Town Trolley Tours.
