San Diego Comic Con has been ranked as the top entertainment industry event, topping such household names as the Sundance Film Festival and the national Kennedy Center Honors.

Bizbash.com calls Comic Con International “today’s juggernaut,” noting that the show has maintained a loyalty to what it always been – a key contact point for comic book and fantasy fans and creators, even as the entertainment industry has come knocking, big time.

“We really feel that the major factor that sets us apart from the other events considered is the attendees that gather in San Diego annually from all over the globe to celebrate comics, popular art, and all the things that they love,” Comic-Con spokesperson and director of marketing and public relations David Glanzer said in a post on Comic Con’s Toucan blog.

Bizbash ranked the Top 100 events in several categories, including award shows, political shows, music festivals and sports.

In award shows, the Oscars were followed by the Grammys and the Emmys.

In political events, the White House Correspondents Dinner topped the list, followed by the Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting and the NRA’s annual meeting.

South by Southwest topped the list of music festivals. California’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival came in fourth.

In sporting events, the Super Bowl was tops, then the NCAA Final Four for men’s basketball and the Master’s golf tournament.

In tech events, the International CES show in Las Vegas was No. 1, and in business events, the Allen & Co. Sun Valley Conference took the top spot.
