Firefighters warned people Tuesday about the recall of some hard-wired commercial smoke detectors made by Edwards and Interlogix.

The 33 models of alarms designed for commercial use in schools, hotels, motels, apartments and dormitories, as well as homes, according to the Escondido Fire Department.

The defective units  about 141,000 were sold in the United States  are susceptible to radio-frequency interference that can cause them to fail to activate.

The recalled units are marked with date codes 13084 through 14059, with the first two digits representing the year and the last three digits indicating the day, one through 365, officials said.

Those who believe they might own one of the defective devices should contact their security or fire-system provider to check.
