A new Habit Burger Grill is set to open in Clairemont at 4175 Genesee Ave. in San Diego, the sixth Habit restaurant in the region.

The opening will take place at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 13 and the new business will create 35 jobs, according to the company. The new restaurant is 2,500 square feet and has a patio.

The location will bring the number of restaurants in the Irvine-based chain to 96. The Habit was recently top rated in Consumer Reports, even placing above the vaunted In-N-Out Burger, in a national survey.

The Clairemont Habit outlet will offer a preview of its menu with a trio of fundraisers Sunday and Aug. 12 to aid three agencies – the Mission Valley YMCA, the local chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Balboa Public Library. All proceeds will go to charity, the company said.

Sunday’s lunch, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will benefit the YMCA, while dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. will aid the MDA.

At the Tuesday lunch, also from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., proceeds will go to the library.

The menu features burgers, fries, chicken and fish options, salads and a condiment bar with peppers and spicy sauces.

Other local Habits are in San Diego in Mission Valley, the Midway, the College Area and Carmel Mountain, and in North County in Solana Beach and San Marcos.

The Habit chain was founded in 1969 in Santa Barbara.
