Partnerships With Industry was chosen a as a finalist in the “Communities with Drive” program sponsored by Zipcar and Ford Motor Co. to promote organizations having a positive impact on their communities.
PWI, which provides job placement for people with disabilities, is one of 25 finalists across the country eligible to win $50,000 in cash as well as $15,450 in Zipcar credit. It is the only San Diego-based organization among the finalists.
Winners will be chosen though a public online vote, and PWI encourages its local supporters to go online and vote. It would use any prize money to purchase of a truck for its new Document Destruction Center service for businesses.
“With more than 400 entrants in the Communities with Drive campaign, it’s clear that great people and organizations doing great things are in need of additional funding,” said Zipcar President Kaye Ceille. “With Ford’s support, we are able to help these organizations fulfill their missions and improve communities across the country.”
PWI President and CEO Mark Berger said his team is “thrilled to be the only organization in San Diego to have been selected as a finalist. The grand prize would make a tremendous impact in our organization and help us to serve an even greater number of adults with disabilities.””
Partnerships With Industry provides vocational assessment services, job training, job placement and support for people with developmental, intellectual and other disabilities.
