
Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa was named the top resort in California and one of the three best anywhere in the United States in the latest rankings by U.S. News & World Report.
The Mediterranean-inspired resort in Rancho Santa Fe was also named the best hotel in California and fourth best nationwide.
Ranking ahead of Rancho Valencia among resorts were the Montage Kapalua Bay in Hawaii and Acqualina Resort in Florida. In the hotel category, the Peninsula in Chicago ranked first, followed by the Montage, Acqulina and Rancho Valencia.
Among other properties in California, the Fairmont Grand Del Mar ranked as the 13th best resort and the Bel-Air in Los Angeles was fifth in hotels.

The 45-acre resort features 49 guest casitas set amid gardens, trails and olive groves. It offers fitness and wellness programs with an indoor-outdoor yoga pavilion, 14 tennis courts, four pickleball courts, and luxury bicycles.
