Veteran chef Giuseppe Ciuffa, who has been a staple of the San Diego restaurant scene for more than two decades, has returned to his La Jolla roots with the opening of Candor restaurant.

The Italian restaurant at 1030 Torrey Pines Road is located at the same property where Ciuffa opened his first restaurant, Come On In! Cafe, in 1998.

The chef went on to establish Giuseppe Restaurants & Fine Catering and a popular restaurant at the Museum of Contemporary Arts in La Jolla.

Candor features what Ciuffa calls an “honest and straightforward culinary approach” inspired by his upbringing on his family’s farm in Italy.

Ingredients are sourced as much as possible from local farmers and fishermen, with produce coming directly from the weekly La Jolla Open Aire Farmer’s Market located a few steps from the restaurant.

The restaurant features bistro seating both inside the building and in an enclosed patio, as well as a separate wine bar.

Candor is open daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with weekend brunch beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
