Broadway San Diego‘s 2019-20 season will feature Tony Award-winning “Dear Evan Hansen” and Disney’s “Frozen” at the Civic Theatre downtown.

“The 2019-2020 season is just what our San Diego audiences have been asking for,” said Vanessa Davis, general manager of the local Nederlander presentation. “Six of our seven-show subscription are all currently playing on Broadway. This is as close to the Great White Way they can get without taking a flight.”

The lineup for the season, which is sponsored by San Diego County Credit Union and includes discounts for that credit union’s customers, is:

“Anatasia” — Oct. 1-6, 2019

This musical transports audiences from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the
1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past.

“Jesus Christ Superstar” — Nov. 12-17, 2019

This celebration of the iconic musical phenomenon comes to San Diego from London on the 50th anniversary of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s rock spectacular.

“Dear Evan Hansen” — Dec. 31, 2019 – Jan. 12, 2020

A letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he’s always wanted: a chance to finally fit in.

Disney’s “Frozen” — March 26 – April 12, 2020

A mysterious secret; a family torn apart. As one sister struggles with being an outsider and harnessing her powers within, the other sets out on a thrilling adventure to bring her family together once again.

“Mean Girls” — June 9-14, 2020

Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the vicious ways of her
strange new home: suburban Illinois.

“Come from Away” — June 23-28, 2020

This critically acclaimed play that began in San Diego at the La Jolla Playhouse is coming back by way of Broadway. It’s the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded airline passengers on 9/11 and the small town in
Newfoundland that welcomed them.

“My Fair Lady” — July 7-12, 2020
A new traveling production of the classic that has been called “the most perfect musical of all time.”

There are also two extra season productions, Blue Man Group on Nov. 8-10, 2019, and the “Rent” 20th anniversary tour on May 8-10, 2020.

Most Broadway/San Diego performances run Tuesday through Sunday evenings, with Saturday and Sunday matinees at the Civic Theatre in downtown San Diego. Tickets are available at (888) 937-8995 or online.
