The long-awaited animated superhero sequel “Incredibles 2” delivered a much-needed shot in the arm to the North American box office over the weekend, earning an incredible $182.7 million in its debut, according to final figures released Monday.

According to box-office tracker comScore, the film scored the largest-ever debut for an animated film, the best opening ever for a PG-rated film and the biggest debut of any other Pixar film.

No other offering at North American theaters could hold a candle to “Incredibles 2.” The heist drama “Ocean’s 8” finished in second place over the weekend, with a distant $19 million take. The comedy “Tag” opened in an even more-distant third place, with $14.9 million.

“Solo: A Star Wars Story” managed to continue padding its box office numbers, collecting another $10 million between Friday and Sunday to give it a four-week take of $193.8 million. “Deadpool 2,” meanwhile, earned $8.7 million, pushing its five-week total to $294.6 million.

Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were “Superfly” ($6.9 million); “Hereditary” ($6.8 million); “Avengers: Infinity War” ($5.4 million); “Adrift” ($2.2 million); and “Book Club” ($1.8 million).
