“Oceans: Our Blue Planet,” a new 3D nature film sponsored by Microsoft, opens May 29 at the San Diego Museum of Natural History in Balboa Park.
Narrated by Kate Winslet, the film takes viewers on a global odyssey to discover the largest and least explored habitat on earth, from the Channel Islands off California to the Gulf of Mexico to the frigid depths near Antarctica.
The research vessel Alucia and its submarines provided unparalleled access to the ocean depths for the new film.
“Oceans: Our Blue Planet” was produced by BBC Earth and OceanX Media and sponsored by Microsoft, which is providing educational supplements in connection with the release..
The film will be shown through Dec. 8 in the largest Dolby 3D theater at a museum in California.
