Organizers of San Diego Taco Fest announced Wednesday a list of the taco restaurants participating in San Diego Taco Fest along with the addition of several bands including some local talent set to perform on May 19 at Waterfront Park in downtown San Diego from
11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Taking place at Waterfront Park on May 19 San Diego’s Largest Taco Festival will feature more than 30 of San Diego’s best taco restaurants, a fun lineup of local and national concert acts, live Lucha Libre wrestling matches, a Chihuahua beauty pageant and races, and interactive experiences. New to this year’s action-packed day will be the Milagro Cantina – a Margarita Bar serving hand-crafted margaritas while a DJ provides entertainment under the Marg Tent. San Diego Taco Fest is open to anyone ages 21 and up.

“We are just about a month away from Taco Fest, and San Diego’s taco lovers are going to see the biggest and best Taco Fest ever,” said Tim Young one of the event organizers. “Our best San Diego taco restaurants will all be there and we have put together a tremendous music lineup.”

San Diego Taco Fest sold out in 2016 and 2017, collectively entertaining more than 19,000 fans who have consumed more than 60,000 tacos.

Concert entertainment includes:

Salt-N-Pepa with Spinderella –

Widely known as the group responsible for changing hip-hop, Salt-N-Pepa and DJ Spinderella will headline the Taco Fest lineup. The Grammy Award winners will perform their most well-known chart-topping hits.

Bulevar Descarga – Born out of San Diego and Tijuana, Bulevar Descarga will deliver Big Banda music including Latin, Jazz, Funk, Boleros, and Flamenco.

Flashpants – Bringing the hits of the ‘80s, Flashpants will deliver high-energy dance music. They perform more than 200 shows per year.

One Drop Redemption – One Drop Redemption is the ‘Premiere’ Bob Marley & the Wailers Tribute show. Their all-star lineup of reggae musicians tour the country playing crowd favorites from Marley’s long list of iconic songs.

Los Sleepwalkers – Boasting a huge following, this San Diego-based band is always ready to throw down some original Chicano Roots/Rockabilly/Cumbiabilly.

Chill Clinton – This SD native band is on the rise and will feature an electrifying take on hip hop that showcases beatbox grooves, street-smart lyrics, gritty guitar riffs and spacey synth sounds.

D-Rock – San Diego’s own DJ D-Rock will kick off San Diego Taco Fest spinning records for a live music mix. D-Rock, who is also the Morning Show Producer on Z90.3, has shared the stage with Janet Jackson and Busta Rhymes to name a few.

Mariachi Real de San Diego – The mariachi band in San Diego since 1978 will be greeting taco fans at the entrance and roaming Waterfront Park sharing their traditional music.

When In Doubt Dial It Out Restaurant Row Presented by San Diego CityBeat will consist of a mix of the best taco-centric establishments from the San Diego region. Restaurants will offer their signature tacos with prices starting at $2.

Lucha Libre Wrestling Presented by Sycuan Casino will take place throughout the day between band performances. Baja Stars, a Tijuana based pro wrestling organization founded in 1988, will organize and conduct the matches.

Returning to this year’s Taco Fest is the popular Chihuahua dog races and beauty pageant presented by Outco. Taco Fest has again partnered with Chihuahua Rescue of San Diego to help with their adoptions.

Listeners on 91X, Z90.3 and Magic 92.5 will have a chance to win the Eyeglass World Best Seat in the House at Taco Fest.

Tickets are available online at SDTacoFest.com – $25 in advance through April 18; $30 from April 19 to May 18; and $35 day of show. General Admission includes entrance to the festival and all the entertainment. Tacos and beverages are an additional cost.

VIP tickets include beverages, taco bar, private restrooms and front row access to the concerts – $125 in advance through May 5 and $150 starting May 6.
