It’s one of the most anticipated events of the year: Comic-Con International. The star-studded event is filled with sneak peeks of films, panels full of celebrities and a lot of people-watching.

Insect Festival
Love bugs? The San Diego Botanic Garden is hosting an Insect Festival this weekend. The event features thousands of fascinating creepy-crawlies, including live lizards, snakes and the famous Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Local bug experts will be available for questions and more than 20 educational booths will instruct and entertain children and adults alike. The festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free with paid admission.
Swing Out at the Globe
The Old Globe in Balboa Park is inviting the public to swing dance this Saturday. The event, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will begin with an open dance led by Swing Dancing San Diego’s Hang Ten Hoppers to the beat of The Mad Hat Hucksters. The Hang Ten Hoppers will then offer brief group dance lessons in various styles, followed by a chance to perfect your moves on the dance floor. The event is free and open to the public. All ages are encouraged to attend.
South Park Walkabout
Explore the unique San Diego neighborhood of South Park with the quarterly Walkabout. The event allows attendees to explore the independently-owned businesses in the trendy neighborhood. There will also be complimentary treats and live entertainment. The event takes place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
La Jolla Fashion Film Festival
Celebrate fashion and film and the annual La Jolla Fashion Film Festival. The weekend brings together hundreds of fashion filmmakers from around the world, including designers and stylists. Events including screenings, parties and the International Fashion Film Awards.
Del Mar Horse Races
And they’re off! The horses that is. The Del Mar horse racing season has begun. Cheer on your favorite riders and their horses this weekend. Plus, enjoy a concert after the last race.
Warner Springs Ranch Resort
