California leads a new national ranking of brunch restaurants, with the San Diego area boasting three top venues.
The national reservation service OpenTable released its list of the top 100 brunch restaurants in the United States on Tuesday and said the Golden State has the most.
“California, a hot spot for both its beaches and ingredient-driven food scene, comes out on top with 10 winning restaurants,” OpenTable said.
The three restaurants making the list in San Diego are:
- The Crown Room at the historic Hotel Del Coronado in Coronado
- Le Fontainebleau Room at the Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego
- The Veranda Restaurant in Fallbrook
“Brunch has become as synonymous with Mother’s Day celebrations as it has the weekend, and the repertoire of dishes associated with the midday meal has expanded exponentially,” said Caroline Potter, OpenTable’s chief dining officer. “No longer an after-thought, this meal at these winning restaurants has become a showcase for culinary diversity, with restaurants serving everything from classic eggs Benedict and buttermilk pancakes to succulent fried chicken with waffles, chorizo scrambles, and luxe buffets with made-to-order stations and raw bars that would delight even the most avid eaters.”
The 100 Best Brunch Restaurants in America list was compiled from more than 10 million verified OpenTable diner reviews collected between March 1, 2016, and Feb. 28, 2017.
