Turn your weekend into a sweet one with the annual Escondido Chocolate Festival.
The festival, which takes place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in downtown Escondido, features chocolate and wine/beer pairings at numerous restaurants and shops.
Visitors can also hop on a horse-drawn carriage ride down Grand Avenue for an extra boost of romance.
Hosted by the Escondido Downtown Business Association, ticket prices range from $20 to $45.

Jewish Film Festival
The 27th annual San Diego Jewish Film Festival runs through Feb. 19, featuring 60 films. The films, which will appear at theatres across the county, include “1945,” “Essential Link: The story of Wilfried Israel,” and the southern California premiere of “Forever Pure.”
Coronado Valentine’s Day Race
Celebrate love with a race through Coronado Island. The Coronado Valentine’s Day race includes a 10K, 5K and 1-mile run at Tidelands Park. Participants will receive a t-shirt, finisher’s medal and a hearty breakfast. Registration prices range from $28 to $115. Festivities begin at 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
Pet Adoptions at Harmony Grove
Add to the family this weekend by adopting a a pet. Harmony Grove Village in Escondido will host a family-friendly pet adoption event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The event, which take place in the community’s 4th of July Park will feature cuddly creatures from the San Diego Humane Society and Valentine’s Day-themed festivities.
San Elijo Lagoon Fun Run
Love to run trails? Doug Gibson, the San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy executive director, will lead a “Love your Lagoon Fun Run.” Runners can choose a distance with 3-mile and 5-mile options. At the end, inspiration is sweetened with Valentine treats. The event takes place at 9 a.m. Feb. 12. The cost is $5 for members and $10 for general admission.
Harlem Globetrotters
The popular Harlem Globetrotters will come to San Diego on Friday. The family-friendly show features impressive basketball skills and entertainers such as Big Easy Lofton, Ant Atkinson and TNT Lister. Ticket prices range from $23.50 to $147.50.
