With wintry storm conditions ahead in San Diego an outdoor movie seems an impossible idea, but Cinema Under the Stars will keep you warm and dry.

The quirky outdoor movie theater in Mission Hills is screening the murder mystery “The Girl on the Train” Friday and Saturday, with an 8 p.m. showtime — rain or clear skies.

“We have you completely covered no matter what the weather. There’s a watertight dome, if you will, plus we have our heaters; we have the blankets; we have the cushions. It’s completely comfortable,” Cinema Under the Stars owner Doug Yeagley told KPBS. “But sometimes we have to encourage people more because of the weather conditions. They don’t trust us enough to be prepared for the weather, but we are and it’s a cozy, unique experience.”

Cinema Under the Stars has just reopened after a holiday break and upcoming screenings feature 2016 films that have recently been released on Bluray.

The “boutique cinema” seats 62 in lounge-type chairs, and the ambiance includes twinkle lights that change color to match the mood of each film, according to KPBS.
